Durant le mois d’avril, l’AFKO propose un club de lecture pour les francophiles qui souhaitent perfectionner leur français! Venez discuter du livre Shuni de Naomi Fontaine, auteure Innue du Québec.

During the month of April, the AFKO offers a book club for Francophiles who want to improve their French. Come and discuss the book Shuni from the Innu author Naomi Fontaine.

The club will start on April 5th and end on April 26th.
Meetings will be at the AFKO on Wednesdays from 6:45pm to 7:45 pm.
The cost would be $45 for the four meetings.

The book

« Her last book, called Shuni, is a long letter to her Quebec friend (Shuni means Friend in Innu) who comes to her community for a humanitarian mission. Through history and little stories, she welcomes the stranger, warning her about the reality of a reserve.

We can tell that the writing of Naomi Fontaine is a strong claim to her identity as Innu, while keeping this poetic sensibility that makes it a very interesting read. »
